Get to know our Michelin-Star Chef Nick Edgar:
Our exclusive dining experience is created by the incredible Nick Edgar, an internationally recognised chef with an extraordinary culinary career spanning some of the world’s most prestigious restaurants.
Nick’s passion for food began early. As the son of a baker, he grew up surrounded by the craft of bread and pastry, watching his father create beautiful baked goods. At just ten years old, after watching the BBC comedy Chef! starring Lenny Henry, Nick realised he wanted to become a professional chef.
He began his culinary journey studying at Aylesbury College before securing a highly sought-after apprenticeship at the world-renowned Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, the two Michelin-star hotel founded by legendary chef Raymond Blanc. Over four and a half years, Nick worked his way through the ranks, developing the skills and precision required at the highest level of gastronomy.
During this time, he was awarded the prestigious William Heptinstall Award, which allowed him to work in some of the world’s most celebrated kitchens, including WD-50, Charlie Trotter’s, Tru, and Alinea, many of which have been recognised among the best restaurants in the world.
Returning to the UK, Nick continued his career in Michelin-starred kitchens including Juniper and Danesfield House. In 2010 he returned to Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, where he rose through the ranks to become Head Chef — a remarkable journey from apprentice to leading one of the most celebrated kitchens in the world.
Nick also competed twice in the prestigious National Chef of the Year competition, reaching the final on both occasions and achieving 3rd place in 2014.
In 2016, Nick moved to the Lake District to lead the kitchen at The Samling, where within just nine months he was awarded his own Michelin Star, alongside three AA Rosettes and Cumbria Life Chef of the Year.
More recently, Nick has worked as a private chef for Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter and later joined Hambledon Vineyard, one of England’s most respected vineyards.
Today, Nick brings his extraordinary experience and passion for exceptional cuisine to The Farmhouse Sanctuary. The Gourmet Escape, creating a Michelin-star dining experience in an intimate and luxurious countryside setting.
